	<title>Decaying malibu pilings</title>
	<link>http://geoffmcknight.net/blog/index.php?showimage=16</link>
	<description>
		&lt;img src=&quot;http://geoffmcknight.net/blog/thumbnails/thumb_20100509083459_old_piling_malibu_web.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
		I have been driving by these pilings for many years watching them glow in the afternoon Malibu light and always wanted to try and capture an image. I think they were part of an old Malibu dock assembly way back when Santa Monica was a port. I had to push the processing on this sunset image which super-saturated the colors. VX-125, probably Scheinder 120mm, Provia 100.

		The weather didn&#039;t really cooperate this time, but that didn&#039;t stop myself and a gaggle of other photographers from trying to capture a classic view of downtown LA. After snowstorms, you can often see a Mt. Baldy residing above the city from 50 miles away.

		I really made this exposure to test out a new developer combination, but ended up quite liking it. The leaves are olove/purple bi-color leaves of the arabian lilac bush in our back yard. Toyo VX 125, 150mm Schnieder lens, Tmax100, pyrocat-HD, cropped to &quot;banquet&quot; camera ratio 5x12.

		After the 22&quot; blizzard, there were some fantastic clear days in Washington, DC, like this one where the last rays of sunlight brushed the edge of the east gallery. That&#039;s a waxing moon in the lower right heading for a blue moon, the 13th full moon of 2009.
